Last weekend, people kept talking "frost, frost frost" and I freaked! I was not (and I'm still not) ready to let me garden die. At least what's left of it. So I broke out some tarps and frantically covered what's left. The white plastic all the way to the right is actually my little row cover for my fall garden. The hoop part Dan's grandpa built me back in May to protect the tomatoes I planted at his house. It didn't work, but I wasn't there to make sure the plastic was secured properly. Dan and I brought it back with us, bought plastic in the painting aisle of Home Depot, and now we have a little greenhouse going there. I wasn't big enough for the full garden, so he stuck some wooden stakes in the ground by the peas so the plastic could go over them without resting on them. Once they get taller, I'll have to get some more plastic to account for their new height. So far, so good. It's definitely warmer in there, but I need to remember to water it. I think I will do that this morning, and pull the plastic back for the day. It's suppose to be 70 here today!
The blue tarp is covering some peppers, which I yanked out last Sunday. The tomatoes are all gone too. The only things left besides the fall crops are what's under the silver tarp. My pole beans, a few peppers plants, my butternut squash plant and some carrots I planted back in the spring! I really just don't want to lose the beans yet; they are still producing nicely. Tomorrow night they are calling for frost for real (people were crazy last weekend, there was no frost) so I'll be getting the tarp back out and covering everything up again.
